Coffee in my teacup...shhh

I have a confession to make...I have coffee in my teacup. It's been going on for quite some time now, but I was afraid to admit it for fear the tea drinkers out there would refuse to speak to me. Tea seems so much more sofisticated and fun. How often do you hear about someone having a coffee party? Not often...actually never. Tea cups go to tea parties not coffee parties. There are coffee houses, but they serve coffee in tall paper cups with lids, that's not very fun or sofisticated.

Once in a while I will have some tea, I like it too, just not as much as coffee. When my church has their annual women's tea, I enjoy the delicious tea they serve. They use two regular Lipton bags with one herbal peach in each teapot...it is really quite nice. But of course when you are served scones and lemon curd, it is only natural to want a cup of tea. I don't even think of asking for coffee.

(This china was passed down to me from my Grandmother)

Since I have coffee on my mind, I'd like to share my very favorite book with you. The author is Margaret Jensen, the book title is "First We Have Coffee, Then We Talk."

Whether your drinking coffee or tea in your pretty cup, have a blessed day!

  1. Your "tea cup" is beautiful! well so are the plates! I am a coffee drinker too. I occassionally like to have tea just to change it up in the winter months! I am forever a follower not to be disappointed over your choice of "sofisticated beverages". Blessings to YOU!

  2. Hello Charlotte,
I am drinking often coffee. In Germany it is much more common to drink coffee when cake is served. We also have coffee parties and most of the families have the china for a coffee table. A coffee pot and the cups for coffee have different shapes than those for tea. So many people in Germany drink their tea from coffee cups. Funny!
So don't feel bad about your love to coffee. In the morning I love to dring tea, after lunch I love Espresso and later a cup of coffee with a nice slice of cake. In the evening I prefer again a cup of tea. So I love every of those specialities, each in a certain time. Thank you for showing this wonderful trio. I haven't seen this charming pattern before.
    Best greetings, Johanna

  3. Hi Charlotte,
I enjoy my coffee too and you are more than welcome to share a cup of coffee at my tea party. The past few weeks I have not posted the 'rules' for my tea party but if you were to go back a few you would see that I welcome coffee, iced tea, hot chocolate, and hot apple cider or punch, etc, as well as tea! *smile*
I love your china! What a pretty pattern and very much a treasure having belonged to your grandmother. Thank you for joining me today. I'm happy to have you!

    Blessings,
    Sandi

  5. You are so right! You never hear of anyone going to a coffee party! Maybe you should start a new trend? Sometimes (I confess...) I have chai in my tea cup. And I love it! So go ahead and have coffee, it is not about the drink, it is about enjoying the beauty in life! And your handed down tea cup is one of the loveliest I have ever seen.
    Hugs,
    Terri

  9. What a beautiful gift from your grandmother. I'm sure it is treasured.
I usually like coffee over tea but once in a while if I need to get warmed up a cup of hot tea does the trick.
Right now I have a partly full glass of water but coffee sounds much better!

  10. I love the Royal Albert cup and saucer and especially since it was passed from your Grandmother. I love Diet Coke my self but hot or iced tea is great to drink. I love to smell coffee but it must have a lot of milk and sugar. I think you are right that there isn't a coffee party but have heard about a coffee klatch.
